Crews with Ames Construction and Missouri River Energy Services have been completing significant milestones at the Lake Red Rock Hydroelectric Project.
Project Supervisor Vern Cochran tells KRLS News they have now enclosed the downstream powerhouse structure, with significant work ongoing to construct and refine the turbines that will eventually generate electricity. Cochran says they have encountered delays upstream due to record high water levels for the month of October, so focus has shifted to restore the parks and recreation features on the construction sites.
“A lot of the efforts have been focused downstream,” he says. “If you go by, you’ll see 216th place has been asphalted now, some of the restoration portions for the North Tailwater Area are starting to take place. We met with teh Corps of Engineers and have some layouts for lighting and bike trail replacement down there.”
Overall, the project is approximately 85% finished, with final completion expected in early 2020. Hear more about progress with the Lake Red Rock Hydroelectric Project on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
