The rain was the true winner Saturday morning, as neither the Simpson or Dubuque high flying offense could get going in a 17-6 victory for the Spartans.

Neither offense could find much success in the first half, as Dubuque got the only score and took a 7-0 lead at the break. Simpson came back and scored a touchdown, but missed the extra point to fall behind 7-6. Dubuque then kicked a field goal to go up four, and despite several drives going into Spartan territory, the Storm could not find paydirt again. Dubuque scored another touchdown in the final minutes to close it out and knock the Storm out of conference title contention. Simpson falls to 5-2 in conference play, and will take on Buena Vista on their season finale next Saturday.
