Three area dancers were among the top-ranked area performers at the Iowa State High School Dance Solo competition, held this past weekend at Newton High School.

Taryn Brent of Pleasantville won the 2nd place trophy in the Class II Dance division, while Abigail Bunch and Cali Wilson from Norwalk won 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Class VI competition.

Thirteen other competitors from Marion and Warren counties won either top 10 trophies or the Superior Medalist award.

Over 800 performers from around Iowa took part in the competition; dancers were divided into one of eight classes, determined by school size.
