The fall sports season continues at Central, while the winter teams ramped up action Saturday…

– The football team wrapped up the regular season with a last-second field goal propelling a 37-34 comeback victory over Loras, as heard live on KRLS.

– A stellar freshman season will continue for Central College women’s cross country runner Miranda Kruiswyk after she finished ninth at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Saturday. Kruiswyk’s ninth-place effort saw her cross the line 22:28.8. Kruiswyk will return to the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis., where she finished 19th at the Pre-National Invitational on October 13, for the NCAA Division III Championships next Saturday.

– For the second weekend in a row, the Central College wrestling team topped three individual brackets at a tournament, winning at 133, 174 and 184 pounds at the Millikin Open Saturday. Making their season debuts, Cam Timok was the champion at 133 and Nathan Fritz won at 174 pounds. Griffen McBride of Pleasantville also shared the title at the Pointer Open last weekend at 184.

– A pair of freshmen helped fuel the Central College women’s basketball offense but it was a senior who delivered at the finish in a 70-64 victory over Millikin University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon. Guard Maci Gambell had 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench in her second collegiate game while guard Jenna Clark) had 13 points and eight boards.

– A young Central College men’s basketball team was outsized and outmuscled in a season-opening loss to Wis.-River Falls Saturday, 103-77.The Dutch were hammered 50-28 on the boards and increased its degree of difficulty by encountering foul problems and shooting just 36.9 percent from the floor,
