Unlike a season ago, when the Pleasantville football team hits the gridiron for the first time in 2019 they will do so with a lot of experienced players.

This season the Trojans had no starters back from last year’s squad but only lose eight players to graduation this year. Leading the group back will be recently selected captains Cale Anthony and Caylor Clark. Anthony provided a great one-two punch with Cael Lester, as the junior ran for 472 yards on 85 carries and six touchdowns. He also was the backbone of the defense leading the team in tackles with 59. Clark switched to quarterback halfway through the year and threw for 201 yards and a score. He also tallied 15 tackles defensively. Head Coach Mack Jorth tells KNIA Sports he’s excited to see what growth the returners can make in the offseason.

“We have a great nucleus of guys returning. They had a great opportunity to learn from the seniors this year. Now they must take those experiences and make that next step.”

The Trojans finished 2018 with a 3-6 record.
