The KNIA/KRLS Holiday Food Drive begins today and Saturday at the Pella Hy-Vee.

Executive Director of the Pella Community Food Shelf Melissa Zula tells KRLS News they partner with the station each year and local businesses to support their mission of feeding the hungry in the Pella area. Zula says they appreciate the donations made by the community during the holiday season.

“When we move into January to March, we will see a huge influx again and a lot of that just tends to be because jobs are just different during different times of the year and needs are different,” she says. “So we will continue to just place out the call and really ask for folks to please contribute not only your food and your goods, but to contribute financially.”

The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will be at the Pella Hy-Vee today from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8 to 11 to collect donations of food and money to support their mission.
