In a back and forth affair the Knoxville girls’ basketball team seized area bragging rights over PCM last night winning 48-40 in Monroe.

The Mustangs came out firing leading 15-10 after the first quarter and 28-23 at the break. The Panther defense tightened up in the second half holding the Mustangs to just 12 points in the final 16 minutes to propel them to victory. Katie Keitges had a huge game for the Panthers leading all scorers with 26 points. Regan Freland led the Mustangs with 11 points.

Knoxville opens up the season 1-0 and hosts Albia on Tuesday. PCM falls to 1-1 and will next be on the court November 30th hosting Saydel.
