A Knoxville man is facing charges including domestic assault from an incident in Melcher-Dallas early Saturday morning.
Twenty-two-year-old Daniel Pettyjohn is charged with attacking the victim inside her home; police say the victim told them he had picked her up at a friend’s house in Des Moines and driven her back, but he became increasingly agitated and stopped her when she tried to leave.
He then reportedly tried to choke her when she tried to dial 9-1-1, and later forced her to watch him try to harm himself. The victim says he then left the house, and she did the same in case he tried to return.
Pettyjohn is charged with domestic abuse assault for impeding air or blood flow causing injury, as well as false imprisonment; he is also charge with violating a previous no contact order.
A bond reduction hearing for Pettyjohn is scheduled for next Thursday.
