Two Simpson College students, Junior Hannah Matt from Viola, Illinois., and senior Carley Wright of Oskaloosa, were recently named Principal Community Scholars and awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Principal Financial Group awards the scholarship for the completion of community projects. Hannah Matt focused on a community organic garden on campus, while Carley Wright worked to eliminate food waste by donating unused food from the from the dining hall to local churches. The two were among 11 students from Minnesota and Iowa to be awarded the scholarship.
