The Salvation Army is working throughout the Christmas season to raise funds through their annual kettle collection; and something they need almost as much as money, is volunteers to help out.
Kettles are set up at three different locations around town, with volunteers asked to work two-hour shifts ringing their bell and taking donations.
Merna Furney from the First United Methodist Church tells KNIA/KRLS News they had a lot of volunteers last year, but it’s always a challenge to find people to fill empty time slots.
“We had 676 people ring, and that was from 19 different churches and 16 different organizations,” Furney says. “It takes a lot of people and a lot of volunteers to do it. They do a good job.”
Furney says anyone interested in helping out is invited to contact her through the church.
