PCM schools were placed on an exterior lockdown Wednesday afternoon, based on a potential safety concern.
Superintendent Brad Jermeland tells KRLS News there was never an active threat on any of their school campuses, but the safety of students and the school community is of the utmost importance.
“We have been in contact with law enforcement and we will cooperate with them as they do their work. We will also continue to monitor this situation and will act as necessary to protect our students, staff, and community members,” Jermeland wrote in a letter to parents. “We are committed to providing parents and guardians with the latest and most accurate information available, but our first and foremost focus must be ensuring the safety of the students and staff.”
The district is working with the Prairie City Police Department, Monroe Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office to further investigate.
