Pella Forte, the community high school’s competitive dance team, will be among the local schools competing Friday at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team Association State Competition.

Mackenzie Overbergen and Julia Smart are members of this year’s team, and tell KRLS News the state competition caps off a busy month of November for all of the girls, many of whom also competed at the solo event earlier this month.

“I think it is really cool to be able to compete with a lot of other teams around us, and we all work super hard throughout the year for this day and it’s just really cool to share it with a lot of people you’ve been working hard with for the last few months,” Overbergen says.

“It’s really fun, we work super hard all throughout the season–especially in November, and so state week is something really special for us,” Smart says.

Both say this is the kick off to the 2018-19 performance season, as they will be featured at many Pella home basketball games this winter.
