Local girl scout service units are hosting a cake auction during the Indianola Holiday Extravaganza event.

The cakes will be located inside the KNIA Indianola office at 100 E Ashland St. on the corner of Ashland and Howard, and visitors can bid on the cakes as they walk by. Troop leader Rusti Wood tells KNIA News the girls were given the themes of winter wonderland, holidays, hometown pride, movies, and girl scouts, but the girls are in charge of making their own cakes to bring.

“Girl scouts is very focused on being girl led. We gave them the direction with the themes but we’ve left it up to them to use their imaginations and creativity, so we don’t know what type of cakes will be there, but I think every troop leader and girl scout family is looking forward to what we are going to see and be surprised.”

The money raised will go towards the different activities the girl scouts hosts. Cakes will be available for viewing as early as 4:30, and the auction will begin at 7pm. For more information on the cake auction, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
