Pella’s bowling teams both fell in head-to-head competition Saturday at Flamingo Lanes in Fairfield, with the boys losing 2693-2477 to the Trojans, and the shorthanded girls falling 1690-1365.

The depth of Fairfield tripped up the Dutch boys — Pella had the top two individual scores from 2018 state qualifier Reid Miller (388) and Matt DeJong at 384, but the Trojans claimed the next three spots on the leaderboard, winning by 19 pins in the first round. Fairfield dominated the Baker rotation 947-750.

The Lady Dutch fielded four bowlers in their varsity match, with Maddy Cubbage leading the way at 256, good for 3rd among individuals, followed by a 5th place finish for Sierra Vander Weerdt (239).

Pella falls to 0-1 on both teams and head to Newton on Saturday the 8th.
