In the first invitational of the season, Pella and Pleasantville wrestlers finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the Montezuma Invitational.

The Little Dutch scored 174.5 team points, and the Trojans 134.5 points. Meet winners East Marshall scored 210, followed by Marshalltown at 200.5.

Pella earned 1st place wins with Ryan Hancock (113) and Ben Hones (152), as well as runner-up placements for Tyson Mick (120), Ryan VanDonselaar (138), Braydon Peterson (220), and Tyler Vander Molen (285). Denzel Poulter was 3rd at 182, and Quinn Rhamy was 4th at 106.

Nolan Ruff of Pleasantville was the champ in the 132-pound weight class, as was Cael Lester at 170. Drew Bartels and Daniel Kenyon with the Trojans were 3rd at 132 and 195 respectively, and Dalton Turner was runner up in the 152 bracket.

Pella is next in action for a dual at Knoxville Thursday; the Trojans are in a quad with Bondurant-Farrar, PCM, and Sigourney-Keota in Sigourney on Tuesday.
