The opening weekend of the indoor track and field season saw two Central College athletes garner weekly performer of the week honors from the American Rivers Conference.

Will Daniels and Courtney Kruthoff picked up the men’s and women’s field event performer of the week honors, respectively. Daniels was also the league’s male athlete of the week. Daniels won the Doane University Happy Holidays Multi-Event title in the heptathlon with 5,423 points. That mark broke Eric Larson’s school record of 5,399 set in 2015 and is the No. 3 mark all-time in NCAA Division III. It’s the third time in Daniels career that he has been named the indoor field performer of the week.

While competing at Doane in the pentathlon, Kruthoff cleared the high jump at 5 feet, 6.5 inches, the second-best indoor mark in school history. In the full pentathlon, Kruthoff finished 11th with 2,906 points. The Central track and field teams are hosting the Dutch Holiday Preview this Saturday starting with field events at 11 a.m
