Four Simpson football players were honored for their work on the field and in the classroom and named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District 8® First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The players were defensive lineman Trey Chumbley, linebacker Galen Gist, wide receiver/punter Nathan Hawkins, and safety Ryan Lehr. The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Football Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
