The Knoxville School Board on Monday night examined its At-Risk program for students; but the district itself was at risk of not getting its full funding for the coming year.

The district must submit its request by January 15th; but the next board meeting will be on January 14th…which means Knoxville would be one snow day away from missing out on getting the full allotment of money for the year.

So as a precaution, the school board voted to go ahead and request the full amount, which is similar to the level of funding it has asked for in the past couple of years.

Knoxville High School will be making some changes to its curriculum and graduation requirements; it will now require 48 hours instead of 46, and adding a requirement for credits in Personal Wellness and the Career and Technical Education courses.

Because of the demand it would put on their schedules, band and chorus students would be exempt from the CTE requirement.

And the board will hold a public hearing on the 2019-2020 district calendar at its January 14th meeting; by law, the school year can start no earlier than August 23rd.
