The City of Indianola, the Iowa Wild, and Wells Fargo held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Indianola ice rink at Pickard Park Wednesday.

Vice President of Sales for the Iowa Wild Eric Grundfast tells KNIA News there was no question Indianola was a great fit for the ice rink.

“Indianola is a good location for us, just south of Des Moines. It’s a growing community, we draw a lot of fans from Indianola. There is a lot of demand for rink down here, and our great partner Wells Fargo has a branch down here so it was a great location for the Iowa Wild.”

Region Bank President of Wells Fargo Marta Cotina tells KNIA News being a part of the community here in Indianola can be a great benefit to everyone.

“Pickard Park is a great location, and what’s great about this location is the lights here will allow skating after dark, which doesn’t happen in some of the other communities. And beyond that, Indianola is a thriving community, we have a great branch here and our team members are excited about having this locally. It’s just a great community.”

The rink is not ready for skating yet, as high temperatures have not allowed the ice to adequately freeze. Stay tuned to KNIA for when the rink will be open for skating.
