It lived up to its billing, problem was, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad was on the wrong end of a 74-72 thriller last night against Eddyville-Blakesburg. The Panthers held the lead with just over four seconds remaining after Ben Olsen made a layup to put Knoxville in the lead by one. But The Rockets nailed an off balance fall away three as time expired to get the win. The game was back and forth with neither team having an advantage of more than five points after Knoxville jumped out to a 12 point lead in the first quarter. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports the game plan was to make Eddyville attempt the most difficult shot possible. Tyler Vaske led four Panthers in double figures with 23 points on seven three point shots. R.J. Roberts scored 18 and Olson had 14. The girls kept their machine steaming ahead as the posted a 50-to-25 win over the Rockets. Knoxville got control early leading 17-2 after one quarter. Katie Keitges led the Panthers with 20 points. Knoxville is 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. The boys are now 4-1 and visit PCM tonight.
