The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams were swept on the road Friday as the Des Moines Christian Lions took down the Trojans 62-23 in the girls game and 78-41 in the boys.

In the girls contest the Trojans would come into Friday’s game down two key players as senior Jordan Dursky and freshmen Carlie Sloan who average a combined 10.5 points per game were out due to illness. The Lions would capitalize on a quick start out scoring the Trojans 25-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Trojans limited offensively would only muster 18 more points the entire game before falling to the Lions.

In the boys contest it seemed almost a mirror image of the girls game as the Trojan boys would fall behind quickly and trail 28-10 after the first quarter and 45-14 at the half. It was clear from the start the Lions were a superior physical team scoring with ease in the first half with most of their points coming in transition. Pleasantville Boys Head Basketball Coach Joel Allman tells KNIA/KRLS Sport the size and athleticism the Lions showed is something he wants his Trojans to build towards. The Trojan boys fall to 2-4 on the year while the girls fall to 5-3 and will next take on Albia in a boy girl doubleheader tonight inside the Pleasantville High School gym.
