All area residents can join a volunteer naturalist at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge for a Winter Prairie Walk along the Overlook Trail.

Participants can discover the tallgrass prairie in winter, while observing and learning about the ways prairie plants and animals survive the coldest months of the year. After the walk on Saturday, December 22, at 1:00 p.m., they can enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. They will also give back to the prairie by cleaning prairie seeds to prepare them for spring planting. This activity is free and open to the public.
