It took a shot at the buzzer to win it, but the Indianola girls basketball team took down Carlisle Thursday night on the road 59-57, while the boys completed the sweep with a 75-61 victory in a pair of games heard live on the KNIA2 stream.

The Indians girls played the Wildcats strong for the first half behind 8 points from Lauren Blake and had a 31-23 lead at the break. The defensive intensity picked up in the third quarter from Carlisle however, and the Wildcats went on a big run to cut the lead down to 2 heading into the fourth, and got a lead as high as 6 in the fourth. With 12 seconds remaining, Carlisle hit one of two free throws to take a one point lead, before the Kendall Clatt 3 point shot gave the Indians the victory. Clatt led the Indians with 24 on the night.

The Indians boys were stuck in a dogfight with the Wildcats for much of the first half, and were down 33-31 with 1:30 to go before the break, before three straight steals and a three pointers gave the Indians a 42-33 halftime lead. Evan Gauger and Quinn Vesey took over in the third quarter for the Indians, scoring 16 combined points and building a 20 point lead the Indians would not relinquish. Gauger and Vesey both scored 24 in the contest. The Indians girls improve to 4-3, the boys to 6-1, and both teams travel to Grinnell tonight.
