While not quite through the first rotation of the Little Hawkeye Conference season, the Pella boys stand as contenders to return to wearing the crown come February, while the other Tulip City teams will have work to do in January.
The Little Dutch, with wins over last year’s co-conference champions Norwalk and Oskaloosa, they stand in a three way tie with the Warriors and Indianola, with the trio having all played each other so far.
Pella Christian, despite improvement from the previous season, have had their share of gutwrenching conference losses in three of their four defeats, including Pella (four points), at Norwalk (four points), and at DCG (two points, at the buzzer). The Eagles stand in 7th place, and hope the winter break will get them healthy and ready to win those close contests.
For the girls, Pella is in a tie for 2nd with Dallas Center-Grimes — the Lady Dutch and Fillies clash to open 2019 on January 4th; the Eagles are currently tied for fourth, despite three straight lopsided losses to Indianola, Grinnell, and DCG, and a win over Pella — the top four in the league.
