A new cell tower will be built on a site near Bussey, following a vote by the Marion County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday.
The board voted 3-to-nothing in favor of rezoning the property at 2146 Highway 5 from agricultural to commercial use, and then approved the plan to erect a cell tower at this location.
Some nearby residents had objected to installation of the 300’ guyed wire tower, citing health impacts and the possible effect on property values; board chairman Mark Raymie has previously said in spite of the varying complaints, there were no legal impediments to installation of the tower.
The board also approved the appointment of Larissa Van Donselaar to the newly-formed Transportation Advisory Group for HIRTA; an alternate representative is still being sought.
This meeting marked the final one for Craig Agan, who is stepping down after eight years on the board; Kisha Jahner will be sworn in to replace him next Wednesday, during the organizational meeting.
