The City of Indianola will be taking a closer look at the space at the current City Hall building during the next budget year, examining how to best allocate limited office space and space for the emergency departments.

City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News having such limited space is a public safety issue.

“Our police and fire departments have equipment in separate facilities right now. If there is an emergency callout, our officers and firefighters have to understand which building are they going to first to get ready before heading out on the call. In emergencies. seconds matter. It is something our council is aware and cognizant of as we move forward.”

The Indianola City Council has indicated that space at City Hall is a priority in the next budget, and the next step involves hiring a consultant to help staff get a better picture of how to maximize efficiency.
