Many of the projects highlighted as priorities for the Pella City Council in 2018 will continue into 2019.

Mayor Jim Mueller tells KRLS News housing development will remain a top goal for the next several years as the city works with developers to expand the options available in the community by 2025. Mueller says one of the key projects for council to make significant progress on in the next year is the proposed telecommunications utility, which voters approved with a 93 percent majority last May.

“We’ve done a lot of the feasibility studies, and that’s proven to be something that it looks like it’s going to be a good investment and opportunity for us to provide upgraded services to our community,” Mueller says. “The next step is to do the design and bid prices to make sure that the financial aspect comes in at or where we would expect it to be, and then quite frankly, it’s a quick turn from feasibility to design into production and into the build out.”
