Another career milestone looms for a Pella senior that will be key to the success of the Lady Dutch in a tough stretch to start 2019.

Emily Holterhaus is 26 points shy of 1000 career points. After a stellar volleyball season launched her into the top 10 in the Quikstats era in career kills at over 1500, Holterhaus has been stellar all-around this year on the basketball court — her 13.4 rebounds per game and 3.9 steals per game are the best in 4A, and her 20 blocks are 4th most in 4A. Head Coach Jerod Garland tells KRLS Sports it’s been fun to watch her grow from her freshman season to now, and to see how dominating she can be.

“She’s having a monster year on the boards, she’ll block some shots, get some steals, throw in some assists…she’s just very, very productive, she makes people think twice in the lane,” he says.

Pella will need her continued all-state level of contribution, as the 6-3 Lady Dutch have one of the toughest schedules over the next two weeks of anyone in the area, opening with DCG in Pella Friday–currently tied for 2nd with the girls in green in the conference, then hosting recently ranked ADM, at No. 4 in 4A Grinnell (1/11), hosting PCM (1/12), and then at No. 8 in 4A Knoxville on January 15th.
