The Pella Community Foundation Board of Directors approved an all time record of 38 grants to local non-profit organizations totaling $100,000 for 2019.
Over its 27 year history, the foundation has awarded $1,094,000 in board directed grants. Foundation President Jim Brandl says they received a record number of grant applications this year and they were able to fund grants touching a broad cross-section of people within the community.
“Grants will again help provide summer sack lunches to area children, support housing for special needs individuals and their families, allow middle-school students to help in the preparation of Meals from the Heartland, provide funds for mini-grants for area school teachers though the Excellence in Education program, and support the Pella Community Reading Experience, among other projects,” he says.
