The Simpson Storm men’s and women’s basketball teams had a tough time in an American Rivers Conference doubleheader Wednesday night as they were swept by Loras.

The Storm women fell to the Duhawks 76-67, after being outscored 29-14 in the final frame. The Storm got behind early in the first trailing 17-9, but rallied in the second to take a 33-30 lead going into halftime. The Storm grew their lead in the third by three, but the final frame was all Loras. Janey Botkins led the team with 21 points, going 5 of 6 from long range, as the Storm fall to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Storm men were without leading scorer Conor Riordan, and it showed as the Duhawks got up early and continued the pressure throughout the second half. Loras led 46-26 at the break, before cruising to a final of 85-61. The Storm fall to 8-4 and 2-2 conference play, with both teams traveling to Dubuque on Saturday.
