It was all Knoxville all the time in the girl’s game against Albia, while the boys were held to just 42 points in a frustrating loss as heard Friday night at KNIA. The girls scored the first 15 points of the game and quickly put Albia in their rear view mirror in a 71-21 victory. The Panthers rang up 59 first half points and started many of the bench players in the second half with the running clock rule in effect. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS Sports defense was the main emphasis on the night, and he says the girls listened. Katie Keitges scored 31 points, which puts her just 30 from breaking the career 1,000 point mark. Maggie Wilkins had 20 points and Kelsey Ryan chipped in with 12. Knoxville is now nine-and-one in and remains perfect in seven games in the South Central Conference. The boys fell in a rock fight to Albia last night 50-42. Shooting was what tripped up the Panthers, who went 8/22 from the three point line. Knoxville was behind by as many as 14 in the fourth quarter and got it down to six, but no closer. Kieren Nichols led the Panthers with 17 points. Knoxville is now 5-4 on the season and 5-2 in the conference. Both Knoxville teams take a trip to Wells Fargo Arena this afternoon to play Newton. These games are a part of the Iowa Wolves High School Hoops Series. Girl’s tipoff is scheduled for this afternoon for two.
