Area wrestling teams flocked to Monroe on Saturday for an invitational, but it was the home team that stole the show with the Mustangs blowing by the competition.
PCM claimed top honors out of 12 teams with 221.5 points while Carlisle came in second with 199.5. Top of the podium was a common sight for the Mustangs, as six individuals took home the gold including Landon Fenton at 113lbs, Colby Tool at 145lbs, Wes Cummings at 160lbs, Jarron Trausch at 170lbs, Lucas Roland at 182lbs, and Jace Smith at 285lbs. Second place finishers included Payton Drake at 126lbs and Cody Wallace at 152lbs.
Pella was also in attendance and finished fifth with 114 points. Quinn Rhamy at 106lbs and Tyson Mick at 120lbs each placed second to lead the Little Dutch. Ryan Van Donselaar placed third at 138lbs.
Knoxville placed seventh with 73 points. Coby Meyer put in a solid day’s work placing second at 182lbs and Milo Johnston was fourth at 220lbs.
