Evan Gauger dropped 37 points to lead the Indianola Indians boys basketball team past Urbandale Tuesday evening 69-65, while the girls squad had a tough time putting points on the scoreboard in a 58-40 defeat in a pair of games heard live on the KNIA2 stream.

Gauger got going early with 10 first quarter points, before Urbandale began to hit some shots from beyond the arc to take a 31-25 lead at halftime. The second half belonged to the Indians however, as they abused a switching Urbandale defense for layup after layup. Gauger led the way with his 37 point night, with Quinn Vesey putting in 16. In the girls contest, the Indians would have an early lead midway through the second quarter at 17-13, but Urbandale would take control with a 10-2 run before half and not look back. Mara Bishop led the way for Indianola with 10 points, while Allison Coffey scored 7. The boys improve to 9-2, the girls fall to 5-6, and both teams will next play Friday at Newton.
