Pella Christian’s boys basketball team is trying to overcome a series of tough conference losses to set themselves up for a big stretch in the 2019 portion of the season.

Head Coach Larry Hessing tells KRLS Sports their matchup Friday against Oskaloosa is pivotal in regards to finding a signature win for their playoff resume and to show how far they’ve come as a team.

“We’re trying to get ourselves on a roll here, and obviously that would be a big game for us, if we could pull out that W” Hessing says. “We know it’s going to be difficult, they have two outstanding players [Cole Henry and Xavier Foster], and some people that really contribute around them.”

While Oskaloosa showed strength against the good guards of Indianola, the path to victory for the Eagles on Friday may be how Norwalk and Pella won — leveraging their balanced, deep shooting ability and tough defense on the Indians’ guards to find victory.

The boys game will follow the girls in Oskaloosa Friday, which can be heard on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com.
