The Goodwill Store in Knoxville is closing its doors.

Goodwill of Central Iowa says it will be shutting down the store at 1302 North Lincoln Street; it will stop accepting donations on February 3rd, and close down for good on February 24th.

Decreasing sales and donations over time, and the increasing cost of transportation, are being cited as the reasons for this closure.

The organization has had a presence in Knoxville since 1999; it currently has seven employees, five full-time and two part-time. Those workers are being encouraged to apply to Goodwill’s other locations.

Goodwill is considering having quarterly attended donations in Knoxville, to provide an outlet for recycling of used goods.
