While the Mustangs gave them a run for the money in the boys game, Pella’s explosive offense blew past PCM in a 3rd quarter run and never looked back to win 74-61, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

PCM mostly controlled the first half, only trailing for about a minute and taking a seven-point advantage into the break, and then opened up an 11 point lead early in the 3rd quarter. But 29 points later from the Little Dutch and their multi-pronged offensive attack were just too much for the Mustangs to handle.

Ryan Gustafson paced Pella with 20 points, and Logan Shetterly scored 10 of his 17 in the pivotal 3rd quarter rally and had eight rebounds. Isaac Telfer scored 21, followed by 18 points and 9 rebounds from Andrew Van Ryswyk. Pella improves to 10-2 overall and have won nine in a row, PCM drops to 7-5.

In the girls opener, also heard live on KRLS, the Lady Dutch had few issues in a 69-32 win. Post-play was the name of the game for Pella, with Emily Holterhaus putting up a 19-point, 11 rebound double-double, Madison Naig adding 15 points and seven boards, and Annika Peterson scoring six and rebounding six. Pella also had 12 steals.

Pella’s 8-5 girls join the boys for a varsity doubleheader at Knoxville — Trevor Castle and Brian Vande Lune will call the action on 92.1 KRLS, beginning at 6 p.m. PCM’s 5-9 girls will join the boys in hosting Roland-Story tonight — that game can be heard on the KRLS3 stream with Cole Cook.
