Pella used a 10-0 run to start the fourth quarter and turn a six point deficit into a four point lead and outlasted Knoxville in girls basketball 50-44, while Pella boys used a big third quarter to ease by Knoxville 68-47 as heard on KNIA and KRLS Tuesday night. In the girls game, Knoxville led most of the way to hold a six point lead heading into the final eight minutes of play with star player Emily Holterhaus saddled with foul trouble for much of the game. Holterhaus broke through in the fourth quarter scoring nine of her 17 points in the final frame. Coach Jerod Garland credits the rest of his team for keeping it close while she was off the floor. Katie Keitges was the only player in double figures for Knoxville who drops to 11-3 on the season while Pella is now 9-5. In the boys contest, the teams seemed to only believe that the three point line was the only was to score as the first 15 points of the game were on three point shots. Pella won that battle 33-27 and the game 68-47. Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS Sports he thought his team defended well on the inside.
