Three drivers and the man who gave life to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame are among the Class of 2019 for induction to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. In the drivers category, Jason Johnson, Stevie Smith, and Richard Griffin will go in. Johnson was the 2016 winner of the Knoxville Nationals and tragically lost his life in a racing accident this past season. Smith is an 84 time World of Outlaws winner and qualified for the Knoxville Nationals championship race 21 times. Griffin known as “The Gas Man” was a legend in CRA and SCRA racing. Mose “Andy” M-A Brown and C-K Spurlock Jr. will be enshrined in the Owners, Mechanics, Builders, and Car Manufacturers category. Pre-1945 category will induct “Wild” Bill Endicott. In the promoters category going in are Greg Stephens, and the man that moved to Knoxville and breathed life into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum Tom Schmeh. Schmeh was hired a executive director of the museum in 1989 and served until 2008 when he took over as curator until 2017.
