All Farm Service Agency offices will be reopening beginning on Thursday, to help out farmers who have been unable to use their services during the government shutdown.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue had ordered a limited number of offices reopened for processing of checks and a limited number of services; but now, all offices will be open to handle a longer list of transactions on behalf of farmers

All of the more than 9,700 FSA employees have been recalled to work, and will be keeping offices open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays through February 8th. After that day, they will only open on Tuesday through Thursday at those same times.

President Trump has already signed legislation guaranteeing these FSA employees will receive their back pay when the government shutdown ends.

Secretary Perdue also says the deadline to apply for the Market Facilitation Program has been extended to February 14th. The deadline for this program to assist farmers harmed by tariffs was originally set for January 15th.

The Department of Agriculture says other deadlines may be extended or modified as needed.
