The Indianola Chamber of Commerce wants to warn local businesses and chamber members of a scam that is posing as the chamber to send invoices.

Chamber President and CEO Brenda Easter tells KNIA News the scam comes in two parts, the first comes as an invoice from a company called Visions in the amount of $489 for what looks like a chamber event, and the second scam is meant to look like it is from a former chamber director.

“The second scam we are getting is probably worse than the first one, because it is coming from an email that has the name of the former director, so it has her name and the sending address of indianolachamber.com. But after that if you look really closely after the title you can see the actual email address of who is sending it, and it contains an attachment titled invoice with what I would assume is malware or another virus.”

Easter also said that if anyone has questions, they can contact the chamber office to check if it is an official communication.
