Saturday night marks the end of the season for the Knoxville Dance Team as they stage their annual KDT Showcase.
They will be performing in the Knoxville High School gymnasium from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., doing some of the routines they have been putting on for competitions and games all season long.
Devin Dunkin is the team’s coach; she tells KNIA/KRLS News this is the team’s final opportunity to perform some of their best dances, and to show friends and family how far they’ve come this year.
“We’ve got our award-winning state routines that we’ll be dancing; early in the morning we’ll be having a kid’s clinic, so we’ll have preschoolers through fifth graders dancing at the showcase for our clinic as well,” Dunkin says.
“We have a really special number with some of our eighth graders and our seniors dancing, which means a lot to us; we also have a very cool coed dance.”
Dunkin says the off-season will be short for the team; returning students will be gathering in the spring to help plan and run a dance camp for younger dancers, and many of them will be working with their own studios or private teachers as well.
