Dangerously cold, arctic air is in place through Saturday morning, with more frigid temperatures expected next week.
Wind chill values today will be as low as 15 to 20 below zero–conditions that could cause frostbite or hypothermia in as little as 30 minutes or less if proper winter gear or protection isn’t worn. There will be a brief warm up this weekend, but with it, the potential for light to moderate snowfall Sunday into Monday. Extremely dangerous cold is in the forecast again from Tuesday to Thursday of next week, with wind chills as low as 30 below zero possible, especially in the overnight and early morning hours.
Residents are reminded to take care of themselves by bundling up and staying inside when possible, and to also take extra care with their pets — a warm dry place with plenty of food and water should be provided to animals to help them with the frigid air.
