The Well is getting ready to come to Knoxville, and a community event scheduled for later this month will be used to introduce the organization and its services to potential clients and volunteers.
The Pella-based religious ministry will soon be opening up at the Events Center on Pleasant Street in Knoxville; to pave the way, they are hosting “Waffles for the Well” on Sunday, February 17th from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dyer-Hudson Hall on the Marion County Fairgrounds.
The main purpose for this event is to educate the community about the services The Well will provide to those in need of assistance. Jayson Henry is executive director; he tells KNIA/KRLS News since they announced the opening of their new ministry, the staff has received plenty of inquiries about what The Well is providing, and how people can help or be helped.
“And there has been lots of questions, we’re ready to get moving, things are going to start taking off pretty rapidly in the next week or so; and one of the things we wanted to do was just do a community event where we invite people in and share, ‘here’s The Well, here’s the types of things we do,’” Henry says. “And probably more importantly, how to get involved and the impact we wish to play with the community.
Henry says they are especially interested in building partnerships within the community; The Well already has relationships with several local social service agencies, and wants to build on that in an effort to provide the people they help with the widest possible array of assistance available.
