It’s still in need of remodeling, and there are some items to be moved in and out; but The Well has a foothold in Knoxville, at its new thrift store and resource center on Pleasant Street.

The Well is moving into the old Events Center, and began taking its first donations of items for the thrift store on Monday. The building will be revamped into a center for anyone in the community in need of assistance in one form or another; everything should be ready in the spring.

Lucinda Smith is the manager for the The Well’s new location; she tells KNIA/KRLS News they will take a number of items to resell, and eventually be able to put people in touch with a variety of social service agencies.

“We’ll have everything from clothing to housewares to furniture to electronic items, toys, just the normal thrift store things,” Smith says. “We’ll have the resource center on the other side, which is probably known as the old laundromat; that will become the resource center, where people can come to get help.”

Donations for the thrift store will be taken every Monday and Friday from noon to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
