pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville boys’ basketball team opened the postseason on a high note dismantling Colfax-Mingo 76-45 in a class 2A district quarterfinal matchup last night in Chariton.

Despite having limited court time the last week due to cancellations, rust was not a factor for the Pleasantville offense that rushed out to a 19-8 first quarter lead and 35-20 advantage at the break. The margin continued to grow in the final 16 minutes and the Trojans were spreading the wealth, as all 12 players got in the score column. Head Coach Joel Allman tells KNIA Sports it was great to see three senior reserves in Triston Mount, Colt Stewart, and Quintin Berglund get rewarded for their hard work.

“Those guys have worked hard all year and have sacrificed the time. They deserve to get some production so I was really happy for those three.”

Parker Elder and Teron Mount each had 15 points to lead the team and Caylor Clark had 11. The Trojans improve to 8-13 while the Tigerhawks close their season at 4-17. Pleasantville has a quick turnaround traveling to Van Meter to face the Bulldogs for a district semifinal this evening. The Trojans hope third time is a charm against the Bulldogs losing 61-29 and 61-44 to them in a pair of regular season meetings. Listen to the game on the KNIA3 Stream with an approximate start time of 8 p.m.
