The Simpson College Storm women’s and men’s basketball teams swept Central College on their home court Wednesday evening, the women winning 92-71 and the men 93-87. The Storm women got out to a fast start, taking a 25-13 lead after the first quarter, and led the rest of the way with Central only getting within double digits two times for the rest of the game. Simpson continued the onslaught with 32 third quarter points, and had five total players reach double figures with Cassie Chubb leading the way with 18. The win marks the 36th consecutive game the Storm women have won against Central. The Storm men had a back and forth contest with a Central team that was playing for season to continue through the American Rivers Conference tournament, but it was the Storm that clinched a spot in the tournament making clutch free throws down the stretch. The game was back and forth throughout the entire first half, with the Storm going on a huge run to end the first 20 minutes to lead 43-27 at the halftime break. Central wouldn’t go away however, and battled back to make it a one point contest several times in the second half but never taking the lead. Adam Reiter was dominant inside, scoring 26 points and hitting 12-14 free throws to lead the Storm, who will play Coe for the right to host a conference tournament game Saturday.
