The Indianola boys basketball team saw their season come to a close Monday evening on their home court, losing in the first round of substate play to SE Polk 67-64. The Indians had a lead for the majority of the contest, getting a 14-12 lead at the end of the first due to an 8-0 run, and leading at halftime by six 28-22. The lead continued to grow in the third, with the Indians getting it as high as 12 with strong defense, but the Rams started to see light at the end of the tunnel by driving it hard to the hoop and drawing fouls. The Indians had a 43-36 lead going into the final 8 minutes, but the Rams went on a 14-0 run to take a 56-50 lead and never looked back, all while shooting 22 shots from the charity stripe and only missing 4. Evan Gauger led the Indians with 30, while Quinn Vesey and Tyce Johnson each scored 15. Indianola ends their season with a 16-5 record, and graduate 8 seniors.
