Ruth Ann Beebout Carruthers was born on April 3, 1942 in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Hallie “Casey” and Blanche Beebout.
Ruth was the fourth of four children and grew up near Columbia, Iowa. She graduated from Knoxville High School in the class of 1960. On February 23, 1962 she married Larry Carruthers at the Columbia United Methodist Church. She worked in Des Moines as a secretary for several years until she become a mother. After getting all three daughters in school Ruth went back to work. She worked at Iowa Power and Company/Mid American from 1978 until her retirement in 2008.

Larry and Ruth retired in the Houston Texas area. She spent her retirement enjoying the company of her daughters and grandchildren, volunteering at her home church in Splendora, Tx, she stayed in touch with family and friends through Facebook, unconditionally “liking” every single thing her grandchildren posted, and she spent a great deal of time at the local library.
On February 5, 2019, Ruth passed away at a Houston area hospital.

Ruth is survived by her three daughters and families: Laura Carruthers Cheung, Lawrence, Sierra, and Gabrielle Cheung: Jo Carruthers Lim, David, Madilyn, and Chase Lim: Ellen Carruthers Flores, Thomas, Logan, and Evangeline Flores: sister Marilyn Crawford and sisters-in-law Margaret Carruthers, Donna Carruthers, and Sherry Carruthers. She was predeceased by her husband Larry of 54 years, her parents Hallie and Blanche Beebout, her sister Joan Beebout and brother Jack Beebout

The memorial service will be held on March 9, 2019 at 11:00 at the Columbia Methodist church. Followed by sharing memories and fellowship from 12:00 to 3:00 at the Columbia Community Center.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Columbia Methodist Church.
