One of the best moments of the winter sports season at Pella Christian High School came when a senior leader at the program made her on-the-court debut.

Morgan Fopma tore her ACL in September in the early weeks of the volleyball season, which ruled her out for the rest of that campaign and all of the basketball calendar.

She was able to gain clearance for a few minutes as the regular season closed, however, which lead to a memory she won’t forget. Fopma says it was overwhelming to have that last chance to play a game she loves one more time in front of her family and friends.

“Those moments were amazing,” she says. “One of the best feelings ever was getting back out there and being with my best friends.”

Despite a setback in her rehab, Fopma remains hopeful she can take part in the track and field season late in the spring. She qualified for state in four different events in 2018, including the 400 meter hurdles–in which she earned 4th place, as well as the 3rd place 4×200, 8th place 4×400, and sprint medley relay events, with Erica Nikkel, Chloe Morgan, and Mary Kate Bandstra.
