The area’s three girls basketball players who crossed the 1,000 career point threshold earned more recognition for successful seasons this winter.

Girls Basketball Senior Emily Holterhaus was named to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association All-State Basketball Team, receiving second-team recognition.

Holterhaus wrapped up her basketball career among the best-ever players in program history, breaking the school record twice for most rebounds in a game this year, and cruising by the career high mark for boards collected, finishing with 838. Emily ended her basketball career with 1176 points as well.

Katie Keitges of Knoxville was also a 2nd team honoree in Class 4A. The junior eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark and was among the 4A leaders in points scored.

PCM’s Regan Freland also received her second all-state honor of the week being named to the second team in 3A. The junior has scored 1,000 points in her storied career and was third in the league in scoring this year, but she tells KRLS Sports being able to distribute the rock has helped her become a well rounded player.

“I am able to see the floor better. When I drive into the lane I am being doubled and it opens up the floor more for my teammates to get open and now I am seeing that.”

Freland was top five in the conference in assists with 61.
